Network Fees
Send transactions from the Coinme wallet are subject to network fees, which vary by coin and blockchain. As a best practice, always check the current network fees for the cryptocurrency you are interested in sending as it’s not uncommon for the fees to be higher than the amount of cryptocurrency you wish to send. USDC sends are free when using the Stellar blockchain.
Bitcoin Network Fees
Every bitcoin send transaction from the Coinme Wallet is subject to bitcoin network fees. Bitcoin network fees refer to a sum that is charged by bitcoin miners to process a bitcoin blockchain transaction. Bitcoin network fees vary depending on how busy the bitcoin network is and are published publicly. To learn more about how bitcoin network fees work, see our explainer post.
Ethereum Gas Fees
Just like bitcoin, transactions on the Ethereum network are subject to fees that are paid to miners. While transactions in bitcoin are measured in size (bytes), transactions on the Ethereum network are measured in computational effort, called “gas.” Gas refers to the fee charged to conduct a transaction on the ethereum network successfully and is calculated in Gwei – the fractional unit of Ether. The average send price varies based upon network traffic and can be quite high. It’s not uncommon for the send fees to be more than the amount you wish to send. These fees are not controlled by Coinme but the Ethereum network. Gas fees are publicly available and should be consulted before initiating a send transaction.
Many popular cryptocurrencies are built on the ethereum network as ERC20 tokens and, therefore, are also subject to aforementioned gas fees. Chainlink (LINK),Polygon (MATIC), and USD Coin (USDC) are ERC20 tokens offered on Coinme that are subject to Ethereum network fees.
